Ban Ki-moon and his wife, Yoo Soon-taek, tok part in an event to promote eco-friendly, clean cookstoves at a major UN conference on climate change in Lima, Peru this week. The enhanced stoves have an emissions rate 3 times lower than traditional open-fire stoves and could also have a positive economic impact. Last week, the World Meteorological Organization revealed that 2014 is on track to be one of the hottest, if not the hottest, on record. The year was marked by devastating floods, heatwave & drought - all signs of our changing climate.
