Bank of Canada announced that the overnight lending rate will remain at 1%. This means that variable mortgages holders interest rates will remain untouched. The tone of the announcement also indicates that rates are likely not moving up very soon. Disinflation is the current concern. Also of note is that this is not a concern in Canada alone. We have seen fixed rates adjust down slightly this week.
