Baskets of l.i.f.e. is sustained by the generosity and thoughtfulness of volunteers and donors like 5th grader, Tyler Wos. Heres a glimpse of this amazing young man: Students in Mrs. Nagel’s 4th grade citizenship class at Mason Intermediate were challenged to find a way to make a difference in their communities. Students had to come up with a way to make an impact on their community and follow through with their plans. Tyler decided that he could help make a difference in the lives of children his own age by doing “Chores for Charity”. With an abundance of snow piling up in the yards around him, he set out to shovel driveways to make money for a local charity that provided Easter baskets to underprivileged children. Based on suggestions from Baskets of L.I.F.E. founder Dawn Godfrey, Tyler then went shopping with the chore money to purchase toys, trinkets and treats to fill the children’s Easter baskets. Tyler and a friend spent a day of their school spring break helping to assemble the Easter baskets and prepare them for delivery to the children. It was a great way to share the joy of Easter, and a lesson learned that you can be a good citizen and make a difference in your community no matter how young you are.
