Bataeño OFW’s demise puzzles relatives POSTED ON JULY 1, 2014 AT 11:01 PM ABUCAY, Bataan — Relatives of an overseas Filipino worker who reportedly died in a vehicular accident last June 2, 2014 in Saudi Arabia are puzzled about the incident. The municipal government here identified the victim as Albert V. Bautista, 29, a mechanical engineer, married, a resident of Barangay Wawa in this town. A group of local reporters here on Tuesday went to the Santana Subdivision in Barangay Capitangan here where his remains lie. The victim’s father Alfredo Bautista refused to be interviewed but close relatives revealed to the media that they were surprised when they saw the mutilated body of Bautista at the airport last Monday afternoon (June 30). ‘’Please leave us alone. Please respect our privacy. We hope you’ll understand,’’ the victim’s father told the media. The victim is reportedly based in Riyadh but his body was allegedly found in the city of Jeddah. Jeddah can be reached from Riyadh almost two hours by plane. ‘’We suspect that there is a foul play behind his death. We are not sure if the accident really happened in Jeddah,’’ the relatives who all refused to be named told Headline Gitnang Luzon. Bautista’s height is five foot, eight inches but his body is found encased in a two-foot wooden coffin and both of his legs were amputated. Bautista’s wife, Carol, also a former OFW, was also advised not to entertain interviews from the media. Belle Caraig, the victim’s mother-in-law told this reporter that they are now in coordination with various concerned agencies like the Department of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. • Mhike R.
