Batoks Challenge Revisited. For those of you who remember the scenario Bill Batok posted last month....weve had a chance to play it twice now. Found it to be fairly balanced with three smallish Klinks (one of which is a scout) vs a Hydran cruiser with 9 fighters. One draw, 1 Hydran victory. Some observations: 1) For the Klinks, ADDs and EW are the game changers. Totally emasculating against someone who knows how to play a scout. 2) When we played, 3 players divided up the Klingon group while I played the Hydrans. I definitely had an advantage in that they had no consolidated command. With only two players, I would have had little, if any, edge. 3) I never fired a shot at the bases. Focused on the threat. The 3 scatter packs posed little threat, but ate up all of my Ph-Gs. 4) Klinks: keep your two combatants close to each other, otherwise its divide and conquer. When 3 ships can fire ADDs at a squadron at range 3 simultaneously, it makes quick work of them. With the EW shift, they have to literally be on top of you - and that means having to run the gauntlet. Remember: there is no EW protection against ADDs!
