Be God in Us We Pray: Lord, as we enter a new advent - TopicsExpress

Be God in Us We Pray: Lord, as we enter a new advent season we will be journeying through the promise of hope, peace, joy, love, and the promise of arrival. Open our eyes, ears, hearts, and minds that we may see these things at work in our lives every day. Move in us that we may be these things to the people we encounter along our journey. Be with us as we experience all of the many promises that live in you. Amen. We Listen to the Word: “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” ~ Isaiah 7:14 We Reflect: Please listen to this song: https://youtube/watch?v=UIbIF11H6m4 How often do we get caught up in the notion that to change someone’s life we must do something enormous? How often do we think that by performing one single act, we should be able to completely alter the trajectory of a person’s life? How badly do we set ourselves up for disappointment and failure when we use such flawed logic? The season of Advent is a season of waiting…waiting for the one moment that would lead to the change of the world forever. But while the moment of Jesus’ birth was momentous, it was only the beginning. Jesus was born an infant, just like you and me. He had to learn to crawl before he could walk and learn to walk before he could run. And so it is in our spiritual lives and in the role we play in the lives of others. In the song that you just listened to, the story doesn’t begin with everyone together on Christmas day. The story begins when one person makes the conscious decision to be present and take notice of the needs of those around them. The narrator of the song saw, listened, spoke, and then shared the spirit of Christmas with another. We Live the Word: Be present! Take notice! Understand that the biggest impacts you make in the world will most likely not happen in one single shining moment of glory. They will happen because of small steps…seemingly unnoticed choices that you make every day. And those choices - those small steps - just might change everything for someone. We Pray: “Oh Emmanuel, God with us; Spirit revealed in us…that we may be your hope to the world! Oh Emmanuel, God with us; with a light to break the darkness…that we may show your hope to the world! Emmanuel!!! God with us, Be God in us!!!” During this Advent season, O Lord, stir in our hearts so that we might stir hope in the hearts of others. Amen.
