Be effective, not sentimental Australia is in splendid - TopicsExpress

Be effective, not sentimental Australia is in splendid isolation and did not have to get involved in the American-European conflict with ISIL. Canada may feel obliged to join the coalition but not Australia. Similarly isolated New Zealand did not get involved. The Australian prime minister decided to send fighter jets to Iraq-Syria for bombing raids, incurring the wrath of the extremist militants, but did not arrange any contingencies for the inevitable homeland attacks by radicalised Muslims. The siege in Sydney yesterday by an Islamic terrorist resulted in the death of two hostages. Subsequent clamouring of well-meaning politicians to praise the dead as heroic and repeating that tired cliché of their ‘hearts go out to the families’ of the deceased are worthless after the fact. This article by the Australian Herald Sun is bold enough to state the obvious need for the Australian government to now start taking effective measures to pre-empt further attacks incited by their decision to attract the vengeance of ISIL, so that Australian citizens do not have to pay for what their prime minister decided to do.
