Beauly second team has a final to look forward to as they beat - TopicsExpress

Beauly second team has a final to look forward to as they beat Inverness 5-0 away yesterday. Thanks to Beaver for the following report. The unpredictable nature of the fixtures at this time of the season stretched club resources to the limit with the first team away to Bute and the second team away to Inverness. The summer holiday season robbed the team of Stork and Panda while injuries accounted for Sandy Elrick and Dougie Blain. Despite that Murph was able to field a solid and experienced starting line-up: Kyle McDonald Mackay Murray Steven MacKenzie Rory Campbell Ian Rankin Craig Rankin Ryan Tillman Kenneth MacKenzie Neil Brindle Ross Forbes Robbie Brindle Stephen MacLean Subs: Willie Bell, Robbie Tuach Perhaps unsurprisingly the enforced changes meant that Beauly started slowly. The Beauly centre line and backs seemed anxious allowing Inverness to drive the ball forward repeatedly in the opening minutes although thankfully they didnt really create any real problems. That was to prove costly for Inverness because Kyle McDonald picked out Ross Forbes with a long hit out. The ball was moved quickly into the middle before being slipped to Tizer who gave Alan MacLeod no chance with a drive into the top of the net. That settled down Beauly and the experienced back three of MacKenzie, Murray and Campbell started to snuff out the Inverness attacks and provide a platform for the rest of the team to go forward. The ball was being spread wide nicely and from one such move Robbie Brindle was unlucky to see his volley narrowly go over the bar. However this was only a temporary repriveve as the ball was soon swithed from right back to left wing forward by MacKenzie to Brindle and after a flowing move Ross Forbes was left to get his name on the scoresheet. The rest of the half saw plaenty of Beauly pressure with Inverness keeper MacLeod called upon on numerous occasions to make stops or clear the danger. The only worrying aspect to the first-half was the hamstring and rib injuries picked up by captain Neil Brindle that saw him replaced by Willie Bell. And so half-time arrived with Beauly 2-0 up. While it had been a fairly comfortable first-half 2-0 wasnt quite the cushion that the team were looking for and coach MacLean made clear he was looking for greater intensity from his troops. His troops answered this clarion call in style as within minutes of the throw-up a clearance from a Beauly corner was picked up by wing-back Beaver on the half-way line. He rolled the ball back to Craig Rankin in the corner area who quickly fed the ball into the middle for veteran MacLean to slot the ball home and effectively put the game beyond the reach of Inverness. In truth the game was now won. Further goals from Robbie Brindle and Ross Forbes provided the icing on the cake but by this time numerous substitutions and positional changes had robbed the game of any real intensity. Inverness gamely kept attacking and credit to Beauly keeper McDonald who pulled off a good save despite not having been in the game for long periods when one of the Inverness substitutes managed to get free of Beaver. That was largely that. The most notable points from here were the twins getting the opportunity to strut their stuff in the forward line while Robbie Tuach will rue his decision to appear well before the throw-up as this saw him firstly named as a substitute and then appear at wing centre. Well done to you all, Lovat awaits in what will be an eagerly anticipated clash . Beauly 1st team made the long trip to Bute where they came away with both points courtesy of 2 David Maclean goals .Winning 2-0
