Because I grew up on a dairy farm.... You may think groceries are expensive, and they are, you have no idea the cost of getting these products to your grocery store. Farming is very labor intensive and machinery expensive. The family farm has all but disappeared. Have you ever considered the cost, labor to get the products to your table. The wide variety of food we have to choose from us is unlike any other place in the world. So yes, farm produce off all kinds are subsidised by the federal government and has been for many, many years. This shutdown will affect every American citizen sooner or later if problems are not resolved. It worries me that the debt and other expensive programs with the current leadership of government may have the potential to change our way of life dramatically.
