Because Ultimately. #WhatSensationalizationAndIgnoranceLooksLike Because ultimately, Amidst the fodder and defaming, And the desperate clinging to bandwagons And in between the blurred lines, The twisting statements and half lies, The truth has to, Has to find some resonance, Because ultimately this not an attack on society When the accusations are singularly levelled, When the fingers are pointed in singular directions, A devastating irony given society is at blame, because society Is a manifestation of culture and identity. Because ultimately this is not even an attack on culture, Now when persons are being vilified, This is not an insurrection against oppression, Not when the topic literally starts and stops, At a hair’s length This is not an intellectual engagement with history, Because there has been no meaningful discourse Because ultimately this is not a discussion, This is a bandwagon of ignorance, This is an aggressive petition against a situation Not completely understood and unfortunately, Never will be. Because ultimately this is an attack on an institution, Because if elitist ever be conflated with backwards, Then it must follow that intelligence, Is the same as being in a state of oppression? Because suddenly that single building is the test tube For this sudden chemical revolt against a societal construct That has existed for years, only to be challenged, By this hypocritical revival. Because ultimately this is an attack on a woman, An enforcer of education, someone who, shockingly, Knows what she is doing And therein lies the problem, the she, The femininity that precedes her existence, Her life, her actions and ultimately her authority, Because the slander is aimed at her, the defamation Of character is devaluing her persona, You have, ultimately, whether you feel comfort in admitting It or not, debased her authority and made a Debacle of her person Because ultimately this is not an attack on society! You want to talk about tendrils? What about language, what about color, what about politics? You have reified the conversation to a silly and Insignificant pixel and now we will All miss the bigger picture!
