Bedoon’s body found in desert KUWAIT: Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death of a bedoon (stateless resident) whose body was found recently in the desert north of the country. Police accompanied by crime scene investigators headed to a location where a man reported finding a dead body half buried in the sand. The man was identified after which police learned that he was reported missing at the Sulaibiya police station. Preliminary examination revealed that the body was left at the location 48 hours before it was found. Meanwhile, the case was ordered to be classified as homicide after evidence of foul play was found. Fatal accident A pedestrian was killed in an accident reported in Shuwaikh Tuesday afternoon. Police and paramedics headed to Canada Dry Street where the Asian man was hit by a sedan while he was crossing the road in front of the banks’ compound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the Kuwaiti driver was in police custody for further action. Strange ticket A man is mulling whether to pay a fine for a parking ticket against his mentally impaired daughter who doesn’t have a driving license, or go to court and challenge the ruling which is preventing him from renewing his daughter’s passport. The Kuwaiti man’s ordeal started when he applied for documents to renew his daughter’s passport. He was told that the transaction is suspended pending payment of a traffic ticket issued against his daughter. The man was baffled because not only his daughter’s mental disability makes her unqualified to drive, but also that she was only 10 years old when the ticket was issued in 2009. When he informed the relevant authorities about his situation, the man was told to go to the traffic court in Riggae and try to get the violation overturned. Hawally scam Hawally police arrested two people accused of fleecing KD 50,000 from multiple victims through scams. Investigations had been ongoing in several cases in which people reported being approached by two men who convinced them to enter commercial projects. The duo would then disappear after receiving the money for fake contracts. The detectives were able to locate the suspects inside an apartment they used. The two men, a Kuwaiti and an Egyptian, admitted during questioning that they committed 20 scam operations in which they collected KD 50,000. They were referred to the public prosecution to face charges. Camel rescued Firefighters rescued a camel which was trapped in quicksand in the Erhaiya desert west of Kuwait City on Monday. A Kuwaiti man reported finding his camel almost completely sunk into quicksand save for its head. A team of Jahra firefighters headed to the scene and was able to rescue the animal in an operation that lasted for an hour and a half. The camel’s owner said that he had been looking for the animal for three days before finding Monday afternoon.
