Beethovens piano sonatas: then and now On Mon., July 28, 7:30 PM in the Catskill Mountain Foundations Doctorow Center for the Arts, 7971 Main Street, Hunter, NY, noted musicologist Dr. Jeffrey Langford will speak about Beethovens piano sonatas: then and now. Dr. Langford is a professor of music history and assistant dean for doctoral studies at Manhattan School of Music. He also lectures at the NY Metropolitan Opera, and has written several books on Hector Berlioz and opera. Dr. Langfords lecture is free and open to the public. This lecture will present some of Beethovens sonatas on both old and new pianos in the Catskill Mountain Foundations unique Piano Performance Museum, with the goal of illustrating some of the decisions pianists must make in the interpretation of these pieces.
