Before I left for work today, I caught the last 10 minutes of the movie Mississippi Buring - a great movie IMO. This is a line in the movie after finding the Mayor of the small town who had hung himself. While the movie deals with racism in the South in the early 60s and specifically a FBI investigation of racial killings in Mississippi, this quote can be applied to a number of issues going on today. Agent Bird: I dont understand why he did it. He wasnt in on it. He wasnt even Klan. Ward: Mr. Bird, he was guilty. Anyones guilty who lets these things happens and pretends like it isnt. No, he was guilty all right. Just as guilty as the fanatics who pulled the trigger. Maybe we all are.
