Before shabbos By Eve Ilsen It feels odd to be writing on CaringBridge so early in the day; but the day is speeding its way towards shabbos. I was trying to cobble together some breakfast, while sobbing. AND I GOT A REAL MESSAGE (!); it went like this: This grief that you are feeling, that unravels your days and your equilibrium, that pulls you to wail and to shout at G-d, that makes you such a stranger in your own world and leaves you raw and helpless---that grief is being felt intensely by Israelis and Palestinians in great numbers now: bereft wives and husbands, parents of dead or maimed children; and the suffering is compounded by fear of yet greater loss. So the thing to do when you are overcome by grief is to pour all that intensity of feeling into prayer that no-one else, there, should have to suffer in this way because of an untimely death brought about by the violence that we are witnessing; and then to insist that the spirit of peace prevail, even over the violence of generations. I wish us ALL a peaceful shabbos. Ill be back late Saturday night. Blessings, Eve
