Being of mixed parentage and living in America.Yummy English Heinz baked beans and scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast this morning .I would like to be British, but despite a love of baked beans on toast, and Cadbury flakes, I don’t always remember to say lift instead of elevator, or biscuit instead of cookie. And yet, I don’t feel entirely Missourian either.I’d be hard pressed to say whether I prefer a good Sunday Roast or an all American BBQ? Roast pudding and hamburgers being equally delicious and decadent. But, I always prefer my tea with milk. And I love clotted cream and jam on my scones. So I guess when it comes to tea, I am well and truly British. The other areas of my life will have to go undefined..... Am I Missourian? Singaporean? Both? Or neither? never fully comfortable calling myself one or the other.Tropical Singapore was once part of the British Commonwealth hence sis and myself grew up with all things British! And we are German ,Dutch and British on our mothers side , Dutch, Ceylonese and Portuguese on our fathers side hence we are known as Eurasians (People of Asian and European ancestry) Pics: Which brings me back to being of mixed parentage and living in America. The United States has its first mixed race president, a man with a black African father and white American mother. Actresses Halle Barry, Cameron Diaz , golfer Tiger Woods, rocker Lenny Kravitz and singer Alicia Keyes & The Van Halens—all people acknowledging a blended racial heritage—are household names. Since the 2000 U.S Census granted the MOOM (mark one or more ,love this!! ) racial option, mixed race advocacy groups have gained political visibility and influence. Are there proportionally more mixed race Americans today then say twenty or a hundred years ago? Or has something changed about how Americans see mixed race, thereby contributing to the increased prominence of the mixed race American in our country’s landscape? Anyhoo, within weeks (as of this writing) autumn will fade into winter. The weather has been steadily getting colder and October delivers the perfect autumn Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Nows the moment to take a good look at Fall. We are going to make the most of these cool autumn evenings. Theyve been a long time coming and we are oh so grateful they are here....
