Being out in public with Christian has given me a unique perspective on the human race. Sometimes it fills me with hope and sometimes its a hard pill to swallow thinking about the type of world my kids are growing up in. Today at lunch an elderly couple came up to me and the boys. The mans hands trembled from Parkinsons. I had watched his wife tuck a napkin into his shirt for him earlier. They handed us a $20 bill. The man was almost in tears, and lingered for a moment after his wife started to walk away, as if he had more to say but couldnt find the words. He patted both boys on the head as he told them good bye. At the park today, a little boy about 5 or 6 stopped me to ask about Christian. So I knelt down and began explaining. In the middle of our conversation, his mom yelled at him from across the playground to get over here and stay away from people, although Im sure she meant people like us. Every single second of every single day, we have a choice, to love or hate; To understand or turn away; to be joyful or miserable. You only get one life and one chance to live it. Make wise choices.
