Being poor means knowing, and anticipating, the exact moment of difference between "having no money" and "having no money AND having no food in the fridge." Food insecurity has been on the rise in Wisconsin, and has risen sharply in Dane County - especially among children - in the last two years. Policies that cut funds to public schools and reject health care funds hit struggling families the hardest. There is no justification for budgeting away the security of our children. And there is no justification for silence on this issue. Please write to your legislators today.
