This goes on thousands of times a day around the world. What do you think that does to the faith of a young person growing up in such circles? No wonder they think Christianity doesn’t work—and despise the hypocrisy of those who claim that it does, obvious appearances to the contrary. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies . . . And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. —2 Peter 2:1-2
