**Best App of 2013**- Blocks Rock! – A Fun Puzzle Game for Kids- By Zephyr Games- ($0) Nicely done app for design copy. Blocks rock is an app where you build a block structure given a picture and outline cues. The designs are presented in increased complexity as the user gains competence. The thing that really makes these blocks “rock” is that the designs are constructed from the base up – (working with the concept of gravity – this is so refreshing). The pieces also don’t magically snap to grid, so there is some experimentation there too. This game can easily be translated to playing with real blocks, and kids that are somewhat hesitant will already know what to do. In this app, kids can learn basic colors, shapes and patterns and how things are constructed. These early spatial skills also help kids learn about movement and interacting with the world.
