Horses anyone? There are some very nice Fox Trotters to adopt. Read on: If you are on Facebook and friends with any foxtrotter folks, you probably know that there were a few horse sales over the weekend and Monday night. One sale was well publicized and most of the horses were trained and rideable. On Monday night, a herd of 58 foxtrotters from former club members Bob and Marymae Lewis’ farm were sold by a broker. Most were broodmares and foals, weanlings and yearlings. Some breeders came to the sale and purchased some of these classic brood mares. Some of the mares were bought at the sale by the pound, to be sent to slaughter. Several folks who knew the bloodlines of these mares are nearly all gone went to work immediately after the sale, collecting donations and borrowing money to buy these horses back from the killer buyer. After a few very busy days, all 58 of the horses have been secured and many have been purchased or adopted by people who can take care of them. All of the foals were purchased by private buyers and have homes. Several of the mares are currently being fostered by volunteers in Seymour and Ava.
