Betrayal. Sooner or later every believer at some point will face - TopicsExpress

Betrayal. Sooner or later every believer at some point will face betrayal from someone within their circle of friends, even in the church. Its how one handles this area that many do not preach about that will determine a right spirit concerning betrayal, or a bad spirit. Jesus said in Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. The truth is, someone is going to betray you at some point in your walk, and sad to say, many of those who will speak against you will be the very ones whom you prayed with, fellowshiped with, sat their home and broke bread with. Yet the question is, why? Why does this happen to so many? Sadly, not every question has an answer, but I believe that the #1 reason why many turn their backs on others is due to a spiritual condition within their own life. Pride, especially religious pride is a very powerful spirit, and when it slips deep into the spirit of a person and is left undealt with, then the result will always be disaster. Most all of us at some point have been faced with betrayal with others whom they once called friend, but the reality is, they were moved by something they should have learned to control and allow the Holy Spirit to deal with, but didnt. Even in my own life, I can count many whom was once good friends, but due to pride, ego, or jealousy, they not only left my company, they spoke out against me. Yet not once have I nor will I respond in like manner - and neither can you. Jesus had many come within his inner circle, 70 to be exact, 70 left but 12 remained, yet one of the 12 would eventually betray him. Not everyone in your circle is for you. Not everyone who calls you friend is, and not everyone who prays with you is praying FOR you, but against you. Yes, even the sweet little old lady who always greets you Sunday morning, might be the very same woman who is cutting you down in private discussion Sunday night. The point is this, this journey is one we will walk with the company of many, and sometimes will be walked in the company of few, and many times it will be walked by you alone. Yet we have one promise, and that promise is that Christ will never leave us nor forsake us, he will stand closer than a brother. So while there will be times in your walk where you will be betrayed, gossiped about, lied about, accused, pray for them. A spirit of meekness and not one of revenge is the real indicator of the fruit of the spirit working in your life, even if its not working in the one who has done something against you, you rise above it, you allow God to work through you, and trust him that he will resolve all of the negative others may speak against you - in time.
