Better Hold Your Peace (By Pastor Joey Sauco) A PROMISE FROM GOD: Exodus 14:14 (KJV) The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. GODS MESSAGE FOR ME TODAY: In this life it’s impossible to live without somebody criticizing or worse condemning us. There will always be discouraging people who try to make our situations more difficult to upset us and steal our peace and joy. The good thing is we don’t have to respond to every critic. We can decide to let go and let God fight the battles for us. We just have to be strong in the face of our adversities and to encourage ourselves with the truth that never once did God lose any battles. Look at what happened to God’s chosen people, Israel. They had troubled on every side. With their eyes of flesh they saw no way of deliverance and so some cried out unto the Lord but most murmured against their leader Moses. All were fearful of their enemies as if there’s anything impossible with God and after all the many miracles He did for them in the land of their slavery. They quarreled with Moses for bringing them out of Egypt. They were so angry with God for the greatest kindness ever done unto them – to rescue their generation from their hard taskmasters and bring them to a land they could call their own, a land flowing with milk and honey. They were blinded with their own absurdities and unbelief. In the spirit of the Lord Moses says, “Fear ye not. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” And God parted the Red Sea with a migthy strong wind and made His people crossed on dry ground. Their fears, their murmurings, and their tears were once again replaced with the awe of who the God leading and guiding them really is. But sad to say that not so long after the same people who kept seeing and experiencing the miracles, the goodness and provisions of God in their lives were murmuring against Moses and against the God of their salvation over again. Perhaps just like the Lord and Moses it makes me feel that sometimes no matter what I say or do there are people who aren’t going to accept me. They just don’t want to be at peace with me. The kind of people in the time of Moses were also the kind of people during the earthly days of the Lord Jesus and that too are the same kind of people living today. Jesus sent out His disciples to certain homes. He told them to always speak peace over those homes. And then He said in effect, “If they don’t receive the peace that you’re offering, then it will come back to you.” Luke 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. That tells me that if I will do my best to be at peace with people even if they won’t take my peace, the good news is that peace will just come back to me. And I will not only get my peace but I will get their share as well! That’s double for my trouble! When I do the right thing no matter what is happening and no matter how others respond to me, God sees it and rewards it. So, think not to save yourself either by fighting or flying or getting even. Wait for Gods commands, observe them and let Him fight the battles for you. Compose yourself by putting on the faith and confidence Christ is providing you. Fill your mind with the peaceful thoughts of the great salvation God is about to work for you. Just stay in peace, cease from strife, and put and trust it all in the faithful hands of God. Remember that you can never solve any problem on the same level it was created. You can never win a battle by fighting it your way. You can never see God’s salvation if you won’t trust Him, take His hand and move at His command. God allows our troubles that He may bring us to our knees. He wants us to stand above our fears. He wants to rekindle our prayers and to never allow anyone and anything to silence our faith and hope in Him. One day those that purpose in their hearts to do nothing but discourage us will be left in wonder when they see the good, the strong and the rescuing hand of God on us. So, keep seeking peace even in a hostile surrounding and watch it come twice to your own life in return. MY PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father in heaven, I choose to hold my peace. I choose to do the right thing even when the wrong thing is happening. I trust that You are fighting my battles for me. I know with You I will never go wrong and I will never lose because You will lead me in a greater victory. I give You all the honor and praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.
