Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Music review) Daler’s opener, Gurbani, is - TopicsExpress

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Music review) Daler’s opener, Gurbani, is serene, and makes fabulous use of his often-abused range. The title song, sung by Arif Lohar, is an odd disappointment with a tune that promises to do something at every second, but never does! The rock version is sung and orchestrated better, but is again the perfect example of a non-starter! Divya Kumar breezes through Maston ka jhund, an authentic Punjabi celebration of sorts that amps up the sound, though with a tune that is only occasionally engaging. But Slow Motion Angreza makes ample amends with its thoroughly endearing Hillbilly Boogie sound, with Sukhwinder adding to the song’s enthusiastic fervour in Hindi. O rangrez is a delight, particularly when Shreya enters the song after the intro by Javed Bashir, and as the tabla-sarangi mix joins the singers – calm and super smooth, this tune! The soundtrack’s 2 best songs are wonderfully disparate! While Javed Bashir’s Mera yaar, with a stand-out guitar setting, tantalizing background vocalizing and the occasional country elements is tranquil Punjabi goodness, Zinda – the kick-in-gut show-stopper sung fabulously by Siddharth Mahadevan, along with incredible guitar by Ehsaan – is instant anthem material! The Amar-Akbar-Antony of Indian music open their 2013 account in style! itwofs/milliblog/2013/06/14/bhaag-milkha-bhaag-music-review-hindi-shankar-ehsaan-loy/
