its the day after Thanksgiving and I just completed 35 minutes on my treadmill. For those of you who want to know, I did go on the Turkey Trot yesterday. That was a somewhat informal gathering of members of two churches, the South Main Street Church of God and Crown Hill Mennonite. There were several joggers, cyclists, and walkers. Some even walked their dogs along the trail. I did walk over 5 miles. The bad news was that I walked it in new shoes. (all together now...OUCH) The afternoon was spent at Kathys parents house where we had some good food and fellowship. I may have overdone the eating, but as Richard Simmons once said,Its okay to fall off the wagon every once in a while, as long as you dont eat the wagon. so today, I am back on that wagon, I call my wagon #DefeatDiabetes. In the next 5 weeks or so, there will be quite a bit of temptation out there. Lots of cookies and desserts as people celebrate the holiday season. Those of us who deal with diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, and other health issues hopefully will remember the word moderation. Please remember that the less we consume during the season, means the less we have to take off afterward. thats especially important because if you go to fitness centers, they will be crowded between January 1 and Valentines day. that will be because it will take that long for everybody who made a New Years resolution to be healthier and lose weight to break it. And for the record, the best resolution I ever made was not on New Years Day, but on April 22 of this year. And the only person who put pressure on me to keep it was me. If you are out shopping today, please be careful. There are plenty of nuts out in the stores, looking to save a few bucks. Of course, dodging crazy people may be a good form of exercise. One last note. This goes out to my friend Emily Ann Adkins. I admire you for sticking to your convictions, and Im sure that those who criticized yo for your vegan lifestyle will do so as they see you living out your beliefs. There are those who dont understand why you follow this lifestyle. A little education given in love may get them to understand. I also expect you to be posting in the next few weeks on the downside of giving pets as gifts.
