Look closely at 7:20 -28. Try to list the qualities of Jesus’ priesthood. How does that fortify your faith in Him? In what way has Jesus obtained a more excellent ministry? What are the characteristics of the new covenant as foretold by the prophet Jeremiah? (8: 10-12) Chapter 9 speaks of the earthly sanctuary and its service (9:1-10; Exodus 30:7) and the heavenly sanctuary and its sacrifice. (9:11-28) How does Jesus’ sacrifice compare? Jesus’ sacrifice provides cleansing of consciences from dead works to serve the living God and the ability to put away sin, once and for all. What is your personal response to this fact? We are encouraged to draw near to God (in personal worship) and to continue to assemble together with other believers (public worship). And we are warned against those who willfully sin. How will you personally respond to this instruction? 10: 35-39 tells us that the 3 things needed to obtain the promises of God are confidence, perseverance, and faith. How strong are you in each? What steps will you take to develop them? This Week: Attend a church service on Sunday and at least one other service or gathering of believers (e.g. FEN Bible study, men/women/youth fellowship)
