Bike Vienna, Austria to Budapest, Hungary Thursday, June 19, 2014 to Sunday, June 29, 2014 This cycling trip from Vienna to Budapest is a very diverse adventure with majestic highlights. Your tour starts in Vienna, the “City of Dreams and ends in Hungarys metropolis of Budapest, called “the Pearl of the Danube”. These were the twin capitals of the Austro-Hungarian empire and are two of the most beautiful cities in Europe. We have arranged two nights each in Vienna and Budapest to fully explore the classic elegance of each of these magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Our bike tour offers an ‘off the beaten path’ route that is set away from the common tourist centers. Untouched nature, artistic treasures and cultural monuments can be found along our 6 days of riding through the enchanting countryside of western Hungary. We cycle 30 to 40 miles each day on safe and quiet roads through the vast width of the lowlands, past Austria’s Lake Neusiedl and Hungary’s Lake Balaton. We continue through lovely villages and beautiful landscapes; through Rust, the town of the Storks, and the medieval city center of Sopron. We will relax in the warming waters of Heviz, the largest natural thermal lake in Europe, and conclude the guided bike portion of the trip with a ‘Budapest by night’ coach tour of the illuminated city. Our evenings are spent in comfortable hotels and guesthouses, and our rides are led by an english speaking local guide and are trailed by a luggage and bike carrying escort van.
