Bill Clinton has challenged Barack Obama to “honor the commitment” he made that the new healthcare law would not affect Americans who already have health insurance. Clinton has joined the growing chorus of critics of the botched rollout of Obamacare, which offers a new political cudgel to Republicans with which to attack Obama. The former president is a supporter of the healthcare reform and has insisted that the US was better off with it. However, he said that the White House should do whatever it takes to live up to its promise, even if it meant altering the legislation. For years, Obama has promised that Americans could keep their healthcare plans under the new healthcare law. But since its enforcement, at least 3.5 million Americans have already received notices from their insurers that their plans have been cancelled because they did not meet the requirements of the new law. It is expected that the number would continue to rise.
