“Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother.” —Oprah Winfrey -------- I was blessed because Florinda considered me her 8th child. Francisco and I have many wonderful memories with her, and I know there is another angel in heaven who loves us both. In Memory of Florinda Flores September 8, 1933 - October 4, 2014 Obituary Flores, Florinda Capistran, of Houston, passed from this life to eternal life on Saturday, the 4th of October 2014. Florinda was born on the 8th of September 1933, in Brownsville, Texas to Eleno Capistran and Rosa Flores Capistran. After 33 years of faithful service, Florinda retired from ABM Industries where she served as Project Manager at Greenway Plaza. A deeply spiritual lady, Florinda showed her love of Gods beauty through her love of gardening, especially with the beautiful roses that she so lovingly nurtured and grew. She is survived by her daughters, Florinda (Linda) McNorton, Patricia Hardwick, Brenda Murrah, and Doris Pitts; sons, #FranciscoFlores, Jr., and Luis Flores; sisters, Conception (Connie) Vasquez, and Manuela (Mela) Escamilla; brother, Pete Capistran; grandchildren, Joshua Garcia, Chelsea McNorton, Cody McNorton, Lauren Hardwick and Sarah Hardwick. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with family from four oclock in the afternoon until six oclock in the evening on Thursday, the 9th of October, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston, where the Recitation of the Holy Rosary will commence at quarter-past five. The funeral mass is to be offered at ten oclock in the morning on Friday, the 10th of October, at St. Anne Catholic Church, where Rev. Al Sinasac, C.S.B. is to serve as celebrant. The family is to gather for a private Rite of Committal at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston. Those honored to serve as casket bearers are Albert Capistran, Michael Hardwick, Arthur Perez and Robert Sampson. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Garcia and Cody McNorton. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family request that contributions in Florinda memory be directed to the Alzheimers Association Houston and Southeast Texas Chapter, 6055 South Loop E, Houston, TX, 77087; or to the charity of ones choice.
