Birthdays are a good time to reflect. Having been in NZ almost 2 years and having flown 77 times in that time period I wonder why I still get scared, but I do....ing up to my permanent residency application I keep thinking I will be told I cant stay, no real rationale, but it sits there in the recesses of my mind......I suppose, it doesnt hurt not to be too complacent: All we have can be whipped away in an instant. So I am grateful for what I have; I am fortunate indeed to have family, friends, good (sort of) health, a job, somewhere to live and a beautiful country to live in, I have all I need and many things that I dont need but am happy to have. From time to time, like now, I stop and reflect, on what has been, what could of been and what is yet to come. I know that I have not always been kind and thoughtful, I know I have left people hurt on occasion....whatever time I have left I will always endeavour to do the right thing and try never to deliberately be unkind or hurt people....doesnt mean I will be perfect, Ill still gossip a bit (but try not to), still be grumpy for no reason sometimes (and regret it) and still tell inappropriate jokes and tell the odd asshole to do one....but overall, being a work in progress, Ill keep trying :-)
