Bismilah, Assalamu Aleykum Wa Rahmatoullah Wa Barakatuhu! My name - TopicsExpress

Bismilah, Assalamu Aleykum Wa Rahmatoullah Wa Barakatuhu! My name is Rama Diabong for those who might not know me and, for the rest of you Jambon here hollering at you. I was a student at UCAD, English Department from 1998 to 2002. I want to apologize first for any misunderstanding on my part, if any and also would like to remind us that this is an attempt to bring a family together for a long overdue gathering. I know we have been talking a lot about getting together, catching up and all. I know the will is there but none of us seem to have the time or chance to get some actions done. So I am humbly coming to you to offer my time and effort to plan a gathering in Indianapolis next September in sha Allah. My wish is to see us all together again even if it is just for a couple of hours or days. I don’t know about you but my years at the English Department were some of the best in my life and I can honestly say that I did most of my growing among you guys and, besides my academic studies, i did learn a lot about life in general. So needless to say how great of a pleasure it would be to see you all again. We are scattered around the globe, I know but it is not impossible to meet in a given place and reminiscence. Yet, it does not have to be perfect at first. I figured maybe we should just fix a date and place and try to make it there. Then whatever needs to be improved will be discussed on the spot and we could even elect a board of some sort or something if we wish to do it annually. I just think we need to start from somewhere and do something to bring all minds together for a broader perspective. So why Indiana? I live in Madison, WI and it is only two of us here. Everyone I know is either in Indiana, Milwaukee or Minnesota. But there is a bigger concentration of us in Indiana (for what I know). Therefore, I also do know that some of us reside a bit further but like I said let’s just start from somewhere and go from there. I think it is better to have us all in one room to better discuss our next move. But any input is more than welcome. I have already talk to most of us and we all welcome the idea with enthusiasm. Just so you know this is not limited to those of us who reside in the USA. In fact I did send a note to our brothers and sisters in Senegal, France and Canada. Well, to those I know Am posting this on the page to keep EVERYBODY in the loop. With Henry Hane and Laye Ba we thought maybe we should have a conference call to discuss the issue. So I am once again very humbly asking for you to let us know about your availability. We are yearning to get everything set up by end of February to give us time to get ready with a set schedule on mind. That being said I thank you all for your understanding, flexibility and cooperation. WE ARE A FAMILY, A BIG FAMILY INDEED! BE PROUD! Alhamdulillah! Wassalam
