Bless God ! Wed. 9th July 2014 Msg. A Healing Balm. ... the Lord our physician. Scripture reading is taken from... *[[Jer 2:4-6]] KJV* v 4 Hear ye the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob, and all the families of the house of Israel: v 5 Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain? v 6 Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought, and of the shadow of death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt? *[[Jer 2:7-9]] KJV* v 7 And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination. v 8 The priests said not, Where is the LORD? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. v 9Wherefore I will yet plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your childrens children will I plead. * I understand a balm to be a mixture of medicinal herbs or an ointment, to apply to a wound or injury. *[[Jer 8:19-22]] KJV* v 19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities? v 20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. v 21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. v 22 IS THERE NO BALM IN GILEAD; IS THERE NO PHYSICIAN THERE? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? * A Healing Balm. The LORD had sent the prophet Jeremiah, to woo them back to Him. *[[Jer 3:20-23]] KJV* v 20 Surely as a wife treacherously departeth from her husband, so have ye dealt treacherously with me, O house of Israel, saith the LORD. v 21 A voice was heard upon the high places, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel: for they have perverted their way, and THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN THE LORD THEIR GOD. v 22 Return, ye BACKSLIDING CHILDREN, and I WILL HEAL YOUR BACKSLIDINGS . Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God. v 23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. ( Praise God.) * Hmmm. What does God apply to a wounded backsliding Israel ? (I need too read some more.)
