Blessings from Turtle Mother. ~ As I envisioned our rainbow family gathering around the fire, paying homage to all ancestors, we received blessings from our Turtle Mother. The Turtle, one of my main totems, slowly approached as I sang to our ancestors, honoring the salty seas of Mother Earth rushing through the blood in our veins, breathing the breath of life with father sky. What a beautiful honor for all relations, honoring us, with gratitude for reuniting, mind, body, spirit, soul, as One. A few years ago, while suffering arthritic pain in my knees, I walked down the lane into Bowdoin Park, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., home to surrounding wildlife of all sorts, as this location is blessed by land and the Hudson River. Walking stick in hand, gifted me on my many nature walks, now offered me support to continue sharing with Mother/Father. Very soon along my way, as I paid homage to our ancestors, I came upon this majestic large Turtle, that had been crushed by a passing car. My heart jumped realizing he/she was still alive, its shell so badly crushed that pieces were falling away, exposing its torn and damaged body. Feeling for this beautiful and ancient soul, I stayed by its side, praying for quick mercy. I kept praying, bringing down my staff several times. When I had completed this prayer, I looked down to see that it finally passed back to spirit and was no longer in pain,...relief. I still have a piece of that shell left behind after the park rangers had collected this beautiful soul.
