Blimey. What a night at Selhurst Park. Liverpool went from 3-0 up and chasing goals to drawing 3-3 after a spectacular collapse that surely (surely?) puts Manchester City on the brink of the title. Crystal Palace were remarkable, as they have been ever since Tony Pulis arrived, but tonight was all about the way Liverpool collapsed in the final 12 minutes. I was going to call it astonishing, but maybe thats not the word. It was an accident waiting to happen. Theyve scored 99 goals this season, which is incredible, but theyve conceded 49, most of them in twos and threes. It has been brilliant to watch, and Ive no doubt that their gung-ho approach has earned them far, far more points than it has cost them, particularly over the past few months, but their defending -- not just the defenders, but the way they defend, or fail to defend, as a team -- always threatened to be their undoing. As Jamie Carragher said here, it felt like a freak match, but its not a freak when it keeps happening (or threatening to happen). Understandable that they were chasing goals at 3-0, with goal difference on their minds, but at 3-1 they just needed to stabilise and close the game out. Liverpool have exceeded every expectation in getting to this position, playing some wonderful football, but they will (almost certainly) look back on this past week or so as an incredible opportunity missed. The words of Carragher and Neville here are quite cutting, quite brutal, but I agree with them www1.skysports/football/news/29327/9298962/jamie-carragher-liverpool-collapse-at-crystal-palace-not-acceptable
