Blue Mountain Zendo currently has one residential position open. Blue Mountain Zendo is a converted three story house, located next to a 650 acre nature preserve called the Lehigh Purchase Park. This location offers miles of hiking trails, biking trails, woodlands, and river access, while also being minutes from Center City Allentown. City conveniences, such as, public transportation, shopping and distance busing are also located blocks away. The residential position includes: wi-fi internet, washer/dryer, private room, zendo activities, use of a stocked kitchen and bedding (futon, sheets ect). Blue Mountain Zendo offers zazenkai (see schedule 2-4 hours in length) three times a week, sesshin (week long every other month, weekend overnight monthly) and engaged activities throughout the year. Due to the PT schedule of the zendo, residency allows for a moderate amount of independent practice time, and most residents hold outside employment to satisfy the residential fee. Zendo participation is left up to the practitioner; however, office positions and ceremonies such as; refuge, jukai and tokudo have set requirements which much be satisfied before they can be requested. This opportunity requires a four month commitment, as per the ango (training period) duration and is open ended.
