Bobbi-dog update: It is now 28 days since a distracted driver killed my car, but, miraculously, not Bobbi (or I), despite the car rolling, a fence railing smashing through her window and her ending up paralysed on the side of the road. Shes needed some intense nursing and love, and suffered many indignities (for example, having a stranger cat come this close) but shes battled on, getting more movement and less wobble each day. A few days ago, only she knows how, she caught a rabbit. She wasnt strong enough to kill it (Rory did the honours) but the relief that she is still a dog after-all has been evident in the spring in her wobble and smile on her face ever since. Today, the vet officially discharged her from accident care and stopped the last of her medications. They dont think she will ever return to 100 percent fitness - too much nerve damage - but she will always be our Bobbi-dazzler. Huge thanks again to the anonymous payer of Bobbis vet bill - and yes, Ive checked, it wasnt the driver who caused the accident.
