Bodega Gutierrez Colosia was established in 1838 at the mouth of the Guadalete River (“River of Forgetfulness”) in El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain. Today, it is the only local winery located on the rivers banks. The bodega’s proximity to the sea, coupled with the dry Levante and humid Poniente winds, promote a rich flor that remains year-round — perfect conditions for maturing sherry — and yield wines with a distinctive salinity. Previously an almacenista that sold its wines to major Sherry houses for blending, the family-run bodega began estate bottling in 1997.
