Bored Already ALS Blog by Melanie Dudley a-love-supreme/roundup.htm The 2013/14 season was certainly the most stressful, eventful and exhausting I remember. Maybe it is a bit like childbirth where you forget, to make sure that mankind lives on or as a fan, you keep watching/going... As we approached the end of the season, I felt exhausted and especially when I thought we were headed for the League previously known as the “Fizzy Pop”, that I simply wanted the end to come. Yet, I find myself in less than two weeks since the season ended feeling, super fecking bored. Yes, I am looking forward to the World Cup, well, not the England team obviously, I am anticipating the usual thrashings/humiliation, but I shall enjoy a beer (maybe two if things get out of hand), the camaraderie and banter. However, it just doesn’t have the same feel, passion and excitement for me that I get when I watch Sunderland play. I hear some of you say there is a term for that “masochism” but, when it’s good, we all know that it is great. I’m missing the pre-match Football Focus, excitement and belief of what may be, the post-game debates on performance and controversy. I am even missing Alan Shearer on MOTD. His statement that Sunderland were brilliant will be engrained on my brain forever, however, you now understand how bad I have got post-season blues. Perhaps I really do need therapy. So, on Wednesday June 18 at 9am, I shall be glued to the internet to see where and when I shall be for new adventures/excitement during the 2014/15 season. There will be chit chat with family about planning Derby day, flights to be booked, the usual debates about Boxing/New Year Day fixtures and usual statement to anyone that will listen “This will be Sunderland’s Year”! Then, on Saturday August 16, 3pm the seasons shenanigans will commence, the ups and downs of the season will roll, beer will be drank and MOTD will either be my friend or enemy. Cant wait!
