Born Feb. 14, 1919 in Cambridge, Ohio: Doris Smith Clanin, 94, of Mount Dora, Fla., formerly of Monroe, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013. #She had lived in Monroe for more than 60 years until she moved to Florida in 1978. #She was born Feb. 14, 1919 in Cambridge, Ohio, the daughter of T. Leo Smith and E. Aletha Aiston. She attended St. Michael School, St. Mary Academy and graduated from Monroe High School in 1937. #She married Edward J. Clanin Dec. 16, 1941 at St. Michael Church. They had been married 52 years. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1994. #She retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company in management with 35 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. #Survivors are her sister, Martha A. Smith of Harrogate, Tenn., and several dear nieces and nephews, including Judith Jennings and Janet Pacitti of Monroe. #In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by twin sisters Dorothy Bologh and Margaret Smith and brother Norman T. Smith. #There will be no service, and inurnment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Mich. #Arrangements were by Beyers Funeral Home, Umatilla, Fla. #Online condolences can be made at Beyersfuneralhome.
