Boston in a very serious party mode today, October 19th, 2014. We were at the party celebrating the 60th year birthday of Mohamed Bangura and the 53rd birthday of Sana Deen (Hassanatu Wanu) at 300 West Street in Dedham, MA 02026 at The Church of St. John of Damascus Hall. It was a grand event, with the contributions of Bostons best DJ Umar Djforty P Savage and some of the best decorators like Ntomah Kabba, and some of the finest camera men, etc. Opening prayers was done by Imam Mohammed Barrie, who did the muslim prayer and Pastor Christo Kamara, who did the Christian prayer to bless the birthday celebrants. Cutting of the cake was blessed by Imam Ibrahim Savage, who also included prayers for the ebola crisis in our country. You will see detailed pictures and videos of the event on my wall. There were many MCs tonight including Victoria Williams, who did the opening remarks, most remarkable was Mariama Kaikai who introduced the two birthday people and their relatives and conducted most of the event including the cutting of the cakes, introducing guests, organizers, etc, and also asked Mohamed Banguras wife and children to say something on his behalf. All of them said marvelous things. Mohamed Bangura talked of what it means to be 60 and how most people are amazed and surprised that he is 60 to the extent that some people believe he is faking it just to get early retirement from Uncle Sam. He said the secret of looking young while being 60, yet looking 45 is DNA and he keeps himself happy most of the time. Hassanatu Wanu who is 53, was also introduced. Her children Abi Bayoh and Ibrahim Wanu spoke very well on her behalf and thanked her for the many contributions she has done for them. Ibrahim Wanu talked about how he is a great man whose contribution made that possible and that person is no other than his mom, who was one of the birthday celebrants tonight. Some of the special guests included relatives from far and out of state and closest and played marvelous roles to make this event possible, Alusine Deen, Abi Bayoh, Ibrahim Wanu, Haja Sana Whyte, Haja Amanatu Jalloh, Marie Bangura, Adama Bangura and Regina Thoranka. Organizers included Saio Kumalah Bah, Elizabeth Turay, Kadiatu Konteh, Jeneba Conteh, Olimatu Deen, Sana Davis, Kadi Cole, Seray Turay and Aminata Bangura. Coordinator and decorators were Ntouma Kaba and Doris Nahim.
