Both mad and sad hearing about the slaughter house (Riviera Beach). I endured much ridicule for making certain that by any and all means necessary mine were not over exposed to the bs that goes on. To the parents-sometimes we have to be willing to travel into unfamiliar territory, you have to be willing to expose these kids at a young age to life outside our hood, so that they yearn to make a life for themselves elsewhere and away from walking on the darkside. All these fb debates about our government being in an upheaval and our back yards are in disarray. As single unmarried parents we are going to have to explore revisiting the more traditional avenues to raising kids. Table the bs, set aside the indifference, and coparent effectively and on purpose. Where is the logic in refusing to band together in parenting only to stand united as grieving parents graveside. Sometimes we just have to look ten years down the road and see into the future; what will our kids grow up to be. They mimic what they see. Now we got a whole community in gridlock. This is the time of the year to buy school clothes and bookbags- instead we are gearing up to have to invest in a boat load of RIP tshirts and 10 lines in the Palm Beach Post obituaries. Michael Carter I just read the article The Talented Tenth and now after careful consideration, I am not at all offended by your observation and to be considered as such. Meanwhile its tea time across the bridge. #oxymoron
