Both the Brega Bus washing and the Legal Consistency Act vetoes I - TopicsExpress

Both the Brega Bus washing and the Legal Consistency Act vetoes I submitted were PULLED from the agenda last night, with no vote occurring. What that practically means is that both these proposed laws were defeated, barring a highly unlikely special legislative meeting by next week. As you all know, I viewed both these proposals as bad for your pocketbook, your public safety, and the integrity of our zoning laws. My deepest thanks to all of YOU who advocated so passionately and effectively in support of my position. You all affirmed my words from my inauguration ... It is from your ranks that I come and on your shoulders that I stand tall. This victory for all of us came from all of you. Also, vetoes do not get pulled as a rule UNLESS the support to override is not there. Clearly, a number of my former colleagues took the additional information we supplied to them as part of the veto messages; realized the merit of our argument; and expressed in their respective caucus an unwillingness to override my vetoes. For that we all owe them, whomever they may be, an acknowledgement.
