Branding... You know, when I hear certain names on products, I cant help but conjure up a judgement based on hearsay and/or actual experience. Whether it be ESEE or Bear Grylls or Mora or BHK or Gerber or TOPS or Flying Sparrow or Gransfors Bruks, they carry connotations with them. . There are some hit & miss brands, some that do much better than others and some that do worse than average. Personally speaking, Id rather have a Rambo Style Harbor Freight 8 Survival Knife than nothing at all and if a Mora was all I had, Im sure Id make do with it and not use it passed its limits. But ultimately, any tool has their own limits. . So, if I joke about a certain brand and its your favorite, dont take it personal. Its just me playing around. Ive seen some folks get their feelings hurt because someone said something about their particular brand of choice. It is what it is though. If you picked up a certain brand and havent really used it for what it was meant for supposedly and youre married to a certain brand that has a bad reputation, you cant get mad that others who have extensive experience with it have an informed opinion and when theres a consensus among folks from across the country whove never met, then you can pretty much bet that that particular brand is what it is: sucky. Same thing with the brands with better reputation. . Spokespersons or personalities or brand name should never be the ultimate qualifier for purchasing and trusting a knife or tool or product; actual quality, performance and experiences from use should be.
