Break the chain. I try to do a health/fitness/diet eval each week. I sit down and be honest with how I am doing in reaching my goals. This morning I had to come face to face with a chink in the armor, a leak in my bucket. For ages, I have been allowing myself to fudge on my diet from Friday night through Sunday. Todays actions are tomorrows habits. If I do well for four days and then allow myself too much freedom on the weekends, then I make it that much harder to continue on Monday with good habits. Indulgence kills discilpine. How can I expect to do good during the week if I use almost half of it to binge? Mental strength is like building muscles. If we want to be stronger, we must exercise them. My mind will be week to indulgence if I dont give it enough practice. Remember, even muscles need rest. I must allow myself an occasional pop or piece of cake in the beginning, but not go overboard. A good ratio would be a theoretical 10:1. What I will try is to use small portions of goodies as rewards. Moderation is the key. Time to set up better habits!
