Bricks Thrown At Vehicles On A4440 In Worcester Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of objects being thrown at vehicles on a major road in Worcester yesterday evening. Four motorists called the police between 6.35pm and 7pm after bricks were thrown at their vehicles from either the verge or the footbridge over the carriageway of the A4440, Crookbarrow Way. One lorry driver had the windscreen of his cab smashed and the brick landed on the passenger seat next to him, leaving him unharmed. Two other drivers reported damage to their vehicles and another had a near miss when a brick landed in front of her car. Two boys aged between 10 and 12 were seen running from the area, one wearing a green top. Investigating officer PC Dave Rudd said: “This was a very serious series of incidents on a busy carriageway and it could have easily led to a serious collision and someone being badly injured. “The lorry was a 44-tonne tanker and given the time of evening and volume of traffic, it is no exaggeration to say this could have resulted in carnage on the roads if the driver had been hit. “We are eager to hear from anyone who saw the bricks being thrown or who saw any young people near the footbridge that runs between Deer Avenue in St Peters and Brockhill Village yesterday evening. If you have any information that could help us identify those responsible, please get in touch.” PC Rudd can be contacted via the non-emergency police number 101 or information can be passed on anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
