Bridge of Names Feature Film In Competition Directors Elizabeth Foley & Peter Hobbs Lost punk rocker, Steve, 23, wanders along a dusty road, carrying a backpack and guitar. He sees a strange man in a dark suit and follows him to a wooden bridge beside a lake. Hundreds of names , carved into wooden pickets, make up the bridge. Steve feels a chill but follows the man into the woods, where he finds him preaching to a small flock. He is Brother Wilf, who talks directly to Jesus and to angels. Steve discovers this after spending the night with Wilfs young disciple, the beautiful Agnes, who introduces Steve to her mentor. Sensing that Steve isnt just lost geographically, Wilf tells him about his world. Later, Agnes explains that Wilf is dying of cancer. She believes that Steve was sent by Jesus to convince Wilf to get treatment. Steve tries everything, including the old “the Lord helps those etc.”. Finally, inspired by desperation he asks the angels who he cannot see and does not believe in to show Wilf what to do. It works. Wilf watches in awe as the angels kneel and beseech him to get help. With his mission accomplished, and Agnes barred from him by her mother, Amelia, Steve leaves town. The Angel of Death begins to haunt Wilf. Agnes feels him slipping away and runs. Wilf gathers his frail body and leaves town, following the railroad tracks. Both searching for the only other person they believe has ever seen the angels. Steve. This is where his troubles begin!
