Briefly speaking with my 2 closest comrades in faith here in Atlanta yesterday, we unanimously agreed there are 3 major concerns we need to address as African (Black) American (Muslims) Men that still contiues to plague our collective efforts since the days we were labeled and shipped as enslaved human cargo and used as free labor for 400 years or more to build this great country... 1) Self Preservation, Protection & Security of our men, women, children and property. 2) Economic Independence. 3) Social Structure i.e. how to choose a mate, family cohesiveness, the definition and role of the male and female, raising children, how to value differences of opinions and methodologies while maintaining group cohesiveness. This was pointed out in many aspects by leaders such as Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Fredrick Douglas, Nat Turner, Marcus Garvey, W.E.B. Dubois, Booker T. Washington, Nobel Drew Ali, Adam Clayton Powell, Elijah Muhammad, MLK Jr., Malcolm X, The Black Panthers, Imam WD Mohammed and others, knowledge and education from God being the foundation.
