British Airways has taken delivery of its first of 42 Boeing 787s. The original order, placed in 2007, was for 24 firm 787s, with 18 options, which were converted in April. British Airways and Iberia parent International Airlines Group CEO Willie Walsh called the 787 “a tremendous, innovative aircraft” that will “become a mainstay of the British Airways’ fleet over the next few years.” British Airways will operate the 787 on its Heathrow-Toronto service from Sept. 1 and Heathrow-Newark service from Oct. 1.
