Broader access to midwifery care could solve a lot of problems in our communities: better, supportive, more individualized care for normal pregnancies, leading to better outcomes; better relationships between out-of-hospitals midwives and in-hospital providers; relief for the OB shortage, especially in rural parts of our state; more autonomy for people giving birth - and so much more. JUSTICE means that access to excellent care is more evenly distributed and is not based on whether a family can pay out of pocket for alternatives to mainstream care.
