Bronson King and Marie King 1950s Pineland, Texas Bronson Cooper King (1902-1968) was born on September 5, 1902 in Bronson, Texas to Jesse Woodruff King (1867-1927) and Texanna C. McLanahan King (1872-1909). He was the first male baby born in Bronson, Texas after its establishment that summer. He was the 9th of 11 children in the family. He was eight years old when his mother died, leaving Mr. Jesse King with six children under the age of fourteen. Bronson and his wife, Marie Patterson King (1901-1985), had two daughters, Inez King Sparks (1926-2011) and Charlotte Jean Babe King Walker (1927-2014). Babes daughter, An, is the wife of Jack Cook Sweeny, a 1965 West Sabine graduate and Pineland native, who was President of Temple-Inlands Forest Division until his recent retirement. Bronson worked for Temple Lumber Company, in Pineland, in the shop, where he worked on the train engines and the rolling stock...the rail cars, steam loaders, etc. He and Marie lived in Hemphill for several years, so Im assuming he worked for Temple at East Mayfield, prior to the mill burning in 1937, and then went to work in Pineland. Later he was over the truck shop in Pineland as Temple transitioned from rail transportation to truck transportation, and for years afterward, until his retirement. Bronson died in Pineland on May 5, 1968 at 65 years old. He, Marie and Babe are all buried in the Hemphill Cemetery.
