Buddy the Elf and MVFR Specialized Divisions: Last week Buddy - TopicsExpress

Buddy the Elf and MVFR Specialized Divisions: Last week Buddy assisted our crews in an extrication training. This training would be used in a real incident if someone was stuck inside of a vehicle. In 2013, MVFR responded to a total of 523 motor vehicle accidents and 29 extrications and rescues. Extrication training falls under our tech rescue division; however, Mountain View Fire Rescue also has two other specialized divisions: hazardous materials and wildland. Each of these divisions require a large amount of training and continued education. The Technical Rescue Team is responsible for the delivery of specialized technical rescue skills for the rescue of those individuals from the following areas: Rope Rescue, Tower Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Water Rescue, Large Vehicle Extrication and Stabilization, Trench Rescue and Structural Collapse Rescue. The Hazardous Materials Team specializes in providing critical skills and equipment needed during any emergency where hazardous materials may be present. Our Wildland Team specializes in providing critical skills and equipment needed during wildland (including tree/vegetation) fires, and is ready to assist should the need arise. The team is locally and nationally certified and there are several vehicles that are assigned to assist in national response so that it does not impact the call response in our communities.
